We've all been lied to at one time or another. But how do you know if your boyfriend is lying to you. It's not always easy to tell. But there are few things that always give him away.

Keeping the story straight

Habitual liars have trouble keeping the story straight. They are likely to mix up stories and answers. Listen very carefully when you think your boyfriend is lying to you. Ask your questions more than once. If you keep getting a similar yet different answer, it suggests that you're being lied to.

Eye Contact

If your boyfriend isn't a good liar, they probably will have trouble maintaining eye contact whilst they are telling you a lie. Be wary though, a good liar will have aquired some skill at this.

Tone/pitch of Voice

Your boyfriend's tone of voice will change when he is lying. Listen for changes in pitch. It could indicate a lie is crossing his lips. This is easiest done with someone he knows fairly well. So look out for the changes in tone and pitch.

Hesitation

If your boyfriend avoids your questions or takes a long time to answer a simple question, this may suggest a lie. The reason he hesitates is because he is thinking back on what he has previously said. So, if you're asking questions at a normal pace and your boyfriend seems to be taking an unusual length of time to answer, he may well be lying to you.

The End Game

If you believe your boyfriend is lying to you it's time to reassess your relationship. Habitual lying is not good for a long term relationship. If your boyfriend is lying to you about big issues, it might be time to end it.
